Fiber Art by Carola

My goal is to design, create and sell beautiful one-of-a-kind wearables and home goods on small batches of hand-dyed medicine cloth.  I practice indigenous ways of doing using sustainable eco-friendly lifestyle products.  Each item has been hand bound using the traditional Geechee Gullah technique of "Binding Up The Blues."  Historic bind and resist patterns are used along with contemporary creations produced through deep meditation.  Ethnically sourced sustainable plant and animal fibers are dyed using plant leaves, flowers, nuts, and roots to produce the colors of the Pamlico Sound and Atlantic Ocean where it meets the coastline of the Carolinas.
